Donald Ziegler

Donald S. Ziegler, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 23, 1936, in Fornfelt, Mo., son of Leo J. and Lorena K. Felter Ziegler. He and Martha J. Westrich were married Oct. 24, 1959, in Cape Girardeau.

He was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Cape Girardeau and attended Southeast Missouri State University.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Ziegler was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Knights of Columbus Council 1111, Elks Lodge 639 and Pipefitters Union Local 344 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, David W. Ziegler of Cape Girardeau, Kevin A. (Sheila) Ziegler of Gordonville; a daughter, Deborah S. (Tim) Beussink of Gordonville; a brother, Richard A. Ziegler of Cedar Hill, Texas; a sister, Wanda L. Holland of Pinellas Park, Fla.; four grandchildren, Joshua and Nathan Beussink, Brianna and Devin Ziegler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Cathedral. An Elks service will be held at 6, and parish prayers at 7 with Knights of Columbus rosary to follow.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with full military honors by Missouri Honor Team.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Cathedral Building on Faith or Notre Dame Regional High School.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
