MOUNDS, Ill. -- Donald J. Taylor, 75, of Mounds died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at his home. He was born Oct. 22, 1929, in Mounds, son of J. Curtis and Fern Taylor. He and Alta Mae Sowers were married in 1949. Taylor had worked for Illinois Central Railroad and Bunge Corp. of Cairo, Ill., and was a former city councilman in Mounds. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Lions Club in Mounds, and was a timekeeper many years for Meridian School basketball games...

MOUNDS, Ill. -- Donald J. Taylor, 75, of Mounds died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at his home.

He was born Oct. 22, 1929, in Mounds, son of J. Curtis and Fern Taylor. He and Alta Mae Sowers were married in 1949.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Taylor of Makanda, Ill., Jay Taylor of Brandon, Fla.; two brothers, Neil Taylor of Mounds, Jack Taylor of Avondale, La.; four grandsons; and four great-granddaughters.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds after 4 p.m. Monday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kelly Cox officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge, Ill.
