SIKESTON, Mo. -- Funeral for Donald R. "Donnie" Smith, 55, of Sikeston, formerly of Canalou, Mo., will be at 1 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Revs. Roy Bennett and Mike Cartwright will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Smith died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, while hunting near Morehouse, Mo.

He was born on Jan. 9, 1945, at Canalou, son of Lige "Hawk" and Ella Campbell Smith.

He graduated from Matthews High School in 1962, and was of the Assembly of God faith.

He was owner of Don Smith Construction Co. and also owned and operated a residential rental property business.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3319 in Sikeston.

Survivors include his mother; a brother, Bob Smith of Wentzville, Mo.; and three sisters, Genevieve Lathum of Germantown, Tenn., and Betty Johnson and Emily Causey Moore, both of Sikeston.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
