COBDEN, Ill. -- Donald G. Lewis, 66, of Cobden, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 1996, at Union County Hospital in Anna.
He was born March 26, 1929, in Carbondale, son of Armold and Sada Lingle Lewis. He and Marilyn Lamer were married July 18, 1954, in Anna.
Lewis was a graduate of Anna-Jonesboro High School and West Point Military Academy. He was commissioned in 1954 and served in the U.S. Air Force 26 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. Lewis was a pilot and flew more than 100 combat missions in Vietnam. He received 10 meritorious air medals.
He was a member of the Congregational Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Major Richard Lewis of Yorktown, Va.; a daughter, Lenette Lewis of Vernon Hills, and a grandchild.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden, with the Rev. Clifford Heil officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery, with military rites by Anna VFW Post 3455 and Cobden American Legion Post 259.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
