MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Donald "Leo" Long, 51, of Marble Hill, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, as a result of an auto accident near here.
He was born Oct. 29, 1948, at Patton, son of Leo Wilson and Mildred I. Douglas Long.
He married JoAnne Armstrong on April 22, 1972. On Dec. 24, 1984, he married Suzanne Hammers. She preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 2000.
He was a machine operator-Cell Technician for the Dana Corp. in Cape Girardeau. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and is a member of the American Vets and the Fredericktown VFW.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred Long of Sedgewickville; two sons, Mike Long of Fredericktown and Joshua Long of Marble Hill; two daughters; Melanie Long-Shanefelter of Fredericktown and Christa Leigh Long of Marble Hill; three stepsons, William Faust of Whitewater, and Sonny Turnbough and Brett Turnbough, both of Birmingham, Ala.; four brothers, Steven Long of Fredericktown, David C. Long of Jackson, Bradley Long of Marquand, and Rodger Long of Sedgewickville; five sisters, Kathryn Mayfield and Valerie Long, P. Dian Long, all of Marble Hill, Pauline O'Dell of Millersville, and Wanda Howard of Patton; a granddaughter; and four step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel, with the Revs. Eddie Long and Raymond Armstrong officiating.
Burial and full military rites by Missouri Honor Guard and VFW Post 5900 of Marble Hill will follow in the Pulliam Cemetery near Scopus.
