Donald V. Kogge, age 88, beloved husband of the late Eloise M. Loving father of John Kogge (Heather) of Liberty, Ind., David Kogge (Janet, deceased) of Los Angeles and Elizabeth Tippit (Carl) of Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

Dear grandfather of Christian, Sean, Eric, Jesse and Gabriel. Brother of Richard T. (Patricia). Stepfather of David Michael Peplin (Kathleen), Susan Pandoli (Michael), Mark Peplin (Debra), Scott Peplin (Susan), Daniel Peplin, Jennifer Skapoulas (Nick) and the late Timothy Peplin. Stepgrandfather of 14. Dear friend and former spouse to Jean Kogge.

"The Silver Fox" was a unique guy, to say the least, and always ready to entertain family and friends with hilarious dances, songs and faces. His heart belonged to his hometown of Cape Girardeau, where he spent his youth frolicking with his beloved brother Rich, developed a great love for the outdoors, became an Eagle Scout, and won the Soap Box Derby. Before graduating from the University of Illinois in 1948 where he became an unwavering fan of the Fighting Illini, he proudly fought for our country in World War II as a pilot in the Army Air Corps. As he put it, he had "a good run" and will forever be remembered for his duck calls, love of the West, exuberant personality, positive attitude in the face of illness, perplexing life decisions, and appreciation of laughter, fresh air, animals and life.

A celebration of life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Cleveland Yachting Club, 200 Yacht Club Drive, Rocky River, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers or donations in Don's memory, go fishing.
