Donald Albert Karwick, 91, of Caruthersville, Mo., passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born March 11, 1922, in New York, N.Y., to Albert Charles and Helen Geiger Karwick. He and Jessie Ruth Sides were married Aug. 8, 1943, in Caruthersville. She preceded him in death June 2, 2007...

Donald Albert Karwick, 91, of Caruthersville, Mo., passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 11, 1922, in New York, N.Y., to Albert Charles and Helen Geiger Karwick. He and Jessie Ruth Sides were married Aug. 8, 1943, in Caruthersville. She preceded him in death June 2, 2007.

Don resided in Roselle, N.J., until he entered the Army Air Corps and served during World War II.

He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner and was employed with the Soil Conservation Service.

Survivors include a daughter, Gail Lowrance of Cape Girardeau; two grandsons, Jonathan Lowrance of Candler, N.C., and Benjamin (Kelsy Henke) Lowrance of Stinson Beach, Calif.; and a granddaughter, Madison Lowrance of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lorraine Wiehl and Irma Darcy.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Sept. 1 at Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville, with the Rev. Dave Lewellan officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to Southeast Hospice.

McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and HS Smith Funeral Home in Caruthersville are in charge of arrangements.
