ST. LOUIS -- Donald Edgar Gohn, 86, of St. Louis died Sunday, July 24, 2011. He was born Oct. 23, 1925, in Neelys Landing, son of Ed and May Littleton Gohn. He married Mary Lynette Giblin. Gohn graduated from Jackson High School and served as a St. Louis city police officer for 31 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was aboard the USS Missouri battleship for the formal signing of Japan's surrender Sept. 2, 1945...

ST. LOUIS -- Donald Edgar Gohn, 86, of St. Louis died Sunday, July 24, 2011.

He was born Oct. 23, 1925, in Neelys Landing, son of Ed and May Littleton Gohn. He married Mary Lynette Giblin.

Gohn graduated from Jackson High School and served as a St. Louis city police officer for 31 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was aboard the USS Missouri battleship for the formal signing of Japan's surrender Sept. 2, 1945.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tom Gohn and Jim (Lori) Gohn; one daughter, Mary (Greg) Gibson, eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, all of St. Louis; one brother, Joe (Helen) Gohn of Jackson; and one sister, Mary Dell Frentzel of St. Peters, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Gary and Donny Gohn; and one sister, Hazel Duhaime.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Buchholz Spanish Lake Mortuary in St. Louis.

The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Florissant, Mo.
