PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Donald J. French, 82, of Perryville died Thursday, May 19, 2016, at his home.
He was born Oct. 7, 1933, in St. Louis, son of Hubert F. and Inez Whistler French. He married Nancy Ann Tucker on Sept. 1, 1956. She survives in Perryville.
Donald was retired from the Memphis City School System. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Silver Lake, Missouri, and American Legion Post 133. He was a Navy veteran and avid fisherman.
Survivors include two daughters and three sons, Denise Ann (David) Love of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Robert French of St. Louis, Terry (Connie) French of Chesterfield, Missouri, Dr. Michael French of Chesterfield, Missouri, and Janine Suzette (Eric) Barnes of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one brother, Gerald (Mary) French of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Casie French, Garrett French, Nicole French, Ellayna French, Marie Barnes and Nathan Barnes; two stepgrandchildren, Amanda Love Prendorff and Katlyn Love Bauer; and one great-grandson, Henry Orendorff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one niece, Mary Virginia Balke; and one nephew, Andrew F. French.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, with rosary at noon, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. May 27 in the church cemetery, with military graveside service provided by American Legion and Navy Honor Team.
Memorials are preferred for Masses or the American Cancer Society.
