OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Funeral service for Donald E. "Shorty" Thrower Sr. of Olive Branch will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to service time.

Thrower, 66, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 1995, at his home.

He was born Aug. 14, 1928, in Cairo, son of James and Bertha Webb Thrower.

Thrower was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a daughter, Debra Thrower of Olive Branch; a son, James Thrower of Watertown, N.Y., and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, LaWanda; two sons, Donald Jr. and Terry, and a brother.
