Donald L. Cairns of Friedheim died May 30, 2010, at his residence. He was 63.
He was born Jan. 11, 1947, in St. Mary, Mo., son of the late Hosea Cairns and Bertha A. (Davis) (Cairns) Buehler. He and Sharon Mangels were married Sept. 11, 1971. She survives in Friedheim.
Other survivors include two sons, Nathan (Chris) Cairns of Perryville, Mo., and Neil (Jennifer) Cairns of St. Louis; a daughter, Nicole (Jeff) Thieret of Jackson; three brothers, Bill (Linda) Cairns of Brewer, Mo., Charles (Jane) Cairns, Terry (Barb) Buehler all of Perryville; five sisters, Donna (Butch) Heise of Whitewater, Bonnie (Dennis) Starr of Centralia, Mo., Mary (Bill) Balsmann of Perryville, Helen Gwin of Oak Ridge, Pat (Dale) Mattingly of Perryville; seven grandchildren, Bayleigh, Analeigh, Emaleigh, Lilleigh Cairns, Jacob and Zachary Thieret and Ian Cairns.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Hosea Cairns Jr.; and his stepfather, Joseph Buehler.
Mr. Cairns had been a foreman at Gilster-Mary Lee. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim and VFW Post 4282 in Perryville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a VFW wake service at 7 p.m., and from 6:30 to 8 a.m. Thursday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.
He will then be taken to Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim for service at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Roger Steinbrueck officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside honors by VFW Post 4282.
Memorials are preferred for family use.
