Donald Burden, 68, of Whitewater passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at his home. He was born Feb. 26, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Robert and Lawanda Aaron Burden. Donald Burden, 68, of Whitewater passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at his home.

He was born Feb. 26, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Robert and Lawanda Aaron Burden. He and Brenda Brinker married Aug. 1, 1968.

Donald was a good Christian man and a faithful member of Allenville Baptist Church. He had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1516 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

He was the subject of an article written over 20 years about his battle and victory over cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Burden; his daughters, Kenda (Brian) Hagan and Jennifer (Angela Timmer) Burden; his sons, Kevin (Shannon) Burden, Dewey Veal and Jeff, Mark and Chris Slinkard; his grandchildren, Eric S. Simpson, Skyler Simpson, Montana Estes, Brett Estes, Keith Brown, Devin Burden, Patrick Nenninger, Adrianna Penrose, Alexis Timmer and Joseph Timmer; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wendy (Bill) Way and Patty Botkin; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Russell Burden; and a nephew, Josh Burden.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Crain Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Whitewater Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
