ANNA, Ill. -- Don Severs, 92, of Anna passed away at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Illinois Veterans Home in Anna. He was born March 6, 1925, in Ullin, Illinois, the son of Dow and Martha Gulley Severs. He and Anita Ridenhour married Dec. 31, 1948, and she preceded him in death Feb. 5, 1989. ANNA, Ill. -- Don Severs, 92, of Anna passed away at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.

He was born March 6, 1925, in Ullin, Illinois, the son of Dow and Martha Gulley Severs. He and Anita Ridenhour married Dec. 31, 1948, and she preceded him in death Feb. 5, 1989. In June 1989 he married Wanda Kessler. Wanda preceded him in death in July 2015.

Don retired from Choate Mental Health after many years. He was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church and Anna Lodge No. 520 A.F. & A.M.

Don loved to cook and was an avid gardener. He was a very generous and loving man to all of his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna (Pat) Robert of Cape Girardeau; stepdaughter, Kim (Marty) Troub of Phoenix; grandchildren, Scott (Dawn) Robert of Cape Girardeau and Becky (John) Davis of St. Louis; great-grandchildren, Colin Davis and Claire Davis; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, wives and brothers, Carl, Guy, Virgil, Clifford and Perry Severs.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Anna with Masonic service accorded at 6 p.m.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Darrell Williams officiating. Interment will follow at American Legion Cemetery in Dongola, Illinois, with military honors by the Carol P. Foster Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3455 and the Illinois Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund in Anna or Anna Heights Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
