BLOOMFIELD -- Don Kendall Ross of Bloomfield died Friday, June 12, 1998, at Dexter Memorial Hospital. He was 71.
He was born July 31, 1926, at Dexter, son of Thomas J. and Margaret Wharry Ross. He married Laura Nan Clodfelter on May 28, 1948. She survives.
He was a 1944 graduate of Dexter High School, a member and trustee of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield and a member and past master of Bloomfield Lodge 532 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, Valley of St. Louis. He also was a life member and past post commander of Bloomfield AMVETS, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, a past school board member and little league coach.
He has served in the Merchant Marine and the U.S. Army. He retired from Monarch Feeds Inc. after 40 years.
He was secretary-treasurer of the Bloomfield Cemetery Association.
He also is survived by two daughters, Patrica Nan Marion of Mountain Home, Ark., and Peggy LaDon Milner of Eureka; a son, Don Kelley Ross of Nixa; a brother, David G. Ross of Okawville, Ill.; three granddaughters; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Hank Foster officiating.
Burial will be at the Bloomfield Cemetery.
