WARE, Ill. -- Funeral for Duane "Doc" Brown of Ware will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Burial will be in Casper Cemetery, with military rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. today.
Brown, 75, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at Union County Hospital in Anna.
He was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Tomah, Wis., son of Harvey and Lillian Morrow Brown. He and Thelma Etheridge were married Feb. 24, 1966, in Peoria, Ill. She died Dec. 29, 1994.
Brown owned and operated Brown's Service Station in Ware. He was a member of the VFW Post in McClure. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Piantinida of Bayonne, N.J., Peggy Brown; four sons, William Brown of Bayonne, Daniel Brown of Benton, David Brown of Anna, Randy Brown of Jonesboro; a stepson, Hobart Etheridge of Peoria; a brother, Gordon Brown of La Plata, Md.; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
