Dixie Adele Dunning, 91, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born April 15, 1923, in Greenbrier, Missouri, to Frank and Yvetta Hunt Reed.
Dixie was of the Baptist belief. Her family was her world, and she enjoyed being a mother and grandmother.
Survivors include four children, Anita "Shug" (William) Dalton of Whitewater, Dixie "Jean" (Ronald) Fowler of Delta, Curtis "Bill" (June) Dunning Jr. of Cape Girardeau, Susan (Larry) Daniel of Sturdivant, Missouri; three siblings, Alan "Bud" Reed of St. Louis, Frankie "Bebo" Clippard of Kentucky Lake, Robert "Geige" Reed of Dutchtown; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis Dunning; three sisters and a grandson.
A memorial visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Hitt Cemetery at Arbor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
