Dillman R. Starzinger, 90, of Jackson passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Egypt Mills, to Roland and Mamie Exler Starzinger. He was baptized at Egypt Mills and attended school at Zion Lutheran School in Pocahontas. He and Nelda Pilz were married May 5, 1946, in Altenburg, Mo.
Dillman farmed most of his life and was a butcher 14 years at Pocahontas Meat. He and Nelda lived on the farm 43 years, moving to Jackson in December 1988.
He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, where he served many years as a Sunday school and Bible class teacher, and held several church offices.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Nelda of Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Starzinger of Pocahontas; two grandsons, Jon Dennis (Kristen) Starzinger of West Plains, Mo., Eric Evert Starzinger of Cape Girardeau; and a sister, Marguerite (Milton) Engert of Frohna, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Dennis; and a sister, Bernice Steiner.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to time of service today at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Paul R. Winningham officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
