CHARLESTON -- Dickie Leon McClendon, 55, of Charleston died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at his home. He was born Jan. 8, 1944, in Anniston, son of Eura T. "Dick" and Vinnie Switzer McClendon. He and Rose Thurman Millner were married Aug. 8, 1994. McClendon lived in Mississippi County most of his life. He was a former pastor of Sandywood Baptist Church in Sikeston, and worked 28 years at Noranda Aluminum near New Madrid...

CHARLESTON -- Dickie Leon McClendon, 55, of Charleston died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at his home.

He was born Jan. 8, 1944, in Anniston, son of Eura T. "Dick" and Vinnie Switzer McClendon. He and Rose Thurman Millner were married Aug. 8, 1994.

McClendon lived in Mississippi County most of his life. He was a former pastor of Sandywood Baptist Church in Sikeston, and worked 28 years at Noranda Aluminum near New Madrid.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, James McClendon of Sikeston, Troy McClendon of Bedford, Va.; a stepson, William Millner of Cape Girardeau; his mother of Anniston; a brother, Harold McClendon of Bertrand; three sisters, Jean Wetzel of Cape Girardeau, Sherma Laughlin of St. Louis, Millie Becker of Cypress, Texas; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lloyd Lathum officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
