SIKESTON -- Dewey Lee Gimlin, 57, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1991, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born March 17, 1934, at Doniphan, son of Ivan Amos and Vera Clauise King Gimlin. He and the former Vaudean Smith were married Aug. 4, 1956, at Sikeston.

Gimlin graduated from Sikeston High School, and was a member of the football team that was unbeaten four consecutive years. He also attended Southeast Missouri State University.

He was employed by Missouri Highway Department 37 years, and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Gimlin of Florissant; a daughter, Michelle Gimlin of Sikeston; a brother, Buell Gimlin of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four sisters, Clauise Magers of Anderson, Ind., Ivena Porter and Margaret McCord of Sikeston, Donnie Gwaltney of San Antonio, Texas, and three grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Charles Buck will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
