MILLERSVILLE -- Dewey H. Bangert, 77, of Millersville died Sunday, May 8, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 9, 1917, at Lixville, the son of William and Myrtle Blaylock Bangert. He was first married to Lyla James. On Nov. 22, 1969, he married Iva Bennett, who survives of the home.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the 101st Airborne of the U.S. Army at Normandy, Rhineland and the central European campaigns. He was captured and a prisoner of war for seven months.
He was a self-employed brick contractor, and a member of the Millersville United Methodist Church.
Other survivors include a son, David Bangert of Jackson; a brother, Wib Bangert of Jackson; three sisters, Ruby Stearns of Millersville and Sidonia Seabaugh and Dorothy Phillips, both of Jackson; and two grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson, where funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Fred Rister will officiate, and burial will be in Whitewater Presbyterian Cemetery near Sedgewickville.
