Dessie M. Austin

JACKSON -- Dessie Mae Austin, 83, of Jackson, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 4, 1912, in Sedgewickville, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Seabaugh James. She and Lewis "Bud" Austin were married May 22, 1929. He died Jan. 19, 1981.

Austin worked 45 years at International Shoe Co. in Jackson and Florsheim Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Abbott of Jackson; two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by eight brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Lohse officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
