JACKSON -- Denzel Watkins, 77, of Jackson, died Tuesday, July 25, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 24, 1918, at Oriole, son of Clarence and Maude McLain Watkins. He and Mildred Trickey were married Oct. 20, 1938.
Watkins owned and operated Watkins Amoco Station at Kingshighway and S. West Avenue in St. Louis from 1941-86.
He was a member of Amoco Retirees of the St. Louis District, Advisory Board of Amoco Dealers, and Wesley United Methodist Church at Fruitland. He was recognized as a top dealer with Standard Oil Co. a number of times.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Stephen and Kenneth Watkins of St. Louis; a sister, Hazel Davie of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Delbert Watkins of Columbia, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter and a brother.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Stewart officiating. Burial will be in McLain Chapel Cemetery.
