SIKESTON, Mo. -- Dennis R. Ponder, 68, of Sikeston died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 21, 1939, in St. Louis.
Ponder previously lived in Kansas City, Mo., and Muncie, Kan. He worked 22 years as a credit manager, and 17 years in the cable business. He was a member of Stoney Point Christian Church in Muncie.
He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. He enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture.
He and Terry Anne Duker of Sikeston were married March 2, 1964, in Kansas City.
Survivors include his wife; mother, Ruth Ponder Lyday of Doniphan, Mo.; a son, David Wayne Ponder of Kansas City; two daughters, Denise Anne Green of Fort Rucker, Ala., Ruth Anne Ponder of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Susan Hill of Joplin, Mo.; two brothers, Charles Ponder of Beverly Hills, Fla., David Ponder of Overland Park, Kan.; and five grandchildren, Richard, Chris, Shawn, Michael and Elizabeth.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Proctor Ponder; stepfather, Richard Lyday; a sister, Faye Ponder; and a brother, Robert Ponder.
The funeral was held Feb. 26 at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. Burial was in Amity Cemetery.
