DENNIS J. BASLER

ANNA, Ill. -- Dennis J. Basler, 93, of rural Union County, died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999.

He was born July 13, 1905, at Cobden, Ill., son of Jacob and Edna Sitter Basler.

He married Jewell Waller July 21, 1930, in Winchester, Ill. She died June 5, 1997.

He was a farmer in Union County and was employed several years at the Anna State Hospital. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He is survived by five children, Dennis I. Basler, Gerry Basler and Barbara Stute, all of Anna, Patricia Gallois of Jacksonville, Ill., and Linda Basler of Carbondale; a sister, Regina Baggott of Anna; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anna, with the Rev. Tom Miller officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Cobden.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna. A prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home at 5 p.m. Sunday.
