DEXTER, Mo. -- Dennis Wayne Hente, son of Lester William and Alice L. Bouge Hente, was born Aug. 23, 1944, in Cape Girardeau and departed this life Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, in Dexter, with his two sons by his side. He was 74 years of age.

He graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1962. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Dennis worked in several jurisdictions as a law enforcement officer. He enjoyed and loved doing his job, had several accomplishments and was recognized for his acts of service. After he retired from law enforcement, he drove a commercial truck and was an avid photographer who loved to take pictures of all the beautiful destinations he saw. He enjoyed keeping a scrapbook and photo albums of his life's journey.

Survivors include two sons, Keith Hente of Cape Girardeau and Sean Hente of St. Louis, and a grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and David Hente.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Ken McAnulty officiating.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
