Dennis E. Mills, 68, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born July 27, 1946, in Pekin, Illinois, to John Dennis and Dorothy Virginia Sanders Mills.
Dennis was a graduate of Union High School in Union, Missouri. He served in the Army from 1966 to 1968 as a saxophone player in the U.S. Army Band.
He worked for Wal-Mart and was a manager in one of the company's first stores.
He was well liked by Sam Walton and occasionally would be his driver.
Dennis moved to Cape Girardeau from Rockford, Illinois, four years ago.
Survivors include his daughters, Tracie (Patrick) O'Reilly of Lakeland, Florida, and Tara (Phil) Willette of Wellington, Florida; sister, Debra Mills, and husband, Charles Berg, of Las Vegas; and a grandchild, Patrick O'Reilly.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until funeral service time on Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at noon Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Loren Boettcher officiating.
Military honors will be provided by Missouri Honors Team at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
