JACKSON, Mo. -- Deloris M. "Dee" Uren, 73, of Jackson died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 26, 1926, daughter of Leo H. and Elsie Schmidt Hall. She and Dr. William G. Uren were married June 5, 1954. He died May 31, 1969.
Mrs. Uren was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church. She graduated from Mexico High School in 1944.
Before moving to Jackson in 1959, she held various clerical positions in Mexico and Columbia, Mo. She served as city collector of Jackson from May 1, 1977, until semiretiring May 1, 1991. She continued to work part time in the collector's office six years before retiring.
Survivors include a son, Robert W. Uren of Jackson; two daughters, Ellen E. Uren of Kansas City, Mo., Gail M. Clinton of Jackson; two brothers, Howard Hall of Burnsville, Minn., Charles Hall of Mabelvale, Ark.; a sister, Lucille VanWyngarden of Mexico, Mo.; six grandchildren, Alexsa Clinton, William U'Ren, Jessie Bolen, Elliott Clinton, Katie Bolen and Trace U'Ren, all of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard Northcutt officiating. Burial will be Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, American Heart Association, or New McKendree United Methodist Church.
