Delmar E. Tunnell, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center. He was born Nov. 14, 1919, at Fornfelt, Mo., son of Eugene and Pearl Bridges Tunnell. He and Margaret Cobble were married Feb. 3, 1941, in Jackson. Tunnell was a high school teacher 25 years at Marshall, Mo., retiring in 1981. He was a member of Maple United Methodist Church, VFW Post 3838 and Lions Club...

Delmar E. Tunnell, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 14, 1919, at Fornfelt, Mo., son of Eugene and Pearl Bridges Tunnell. He and Margaret Cobble were married Feb. 3, 1941, in Jackson.

Tunnell was a high school teacher 25 years at Marshall, Mo., retiring in 1981. He was a member of Maple United Methodist Church, VFW Post 3838 and Lions Club.

He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Delmar Tunnell Jr. of Oglesby, Ill.; a daughter, Marianne Holland of Glen Allen, Va.; a brother, Garnett Tunnell of Michigan; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Cooper officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
