TROY -- Delbert "Butch" Brotherton, 49, of Troy died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 1996, at his home. He was born June 7, 1947, at Oak Ridge to the late Floyd and Ella Ruesler Brotherton. TROY -- Delbert "Butch" Brotherton, 49, of Troy died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 1996, at his home.

He was born June 7, 1947, at Oak Ridge to the late Floyd and Ella Ruesler Brotherton.

He married Barbara Riehn Wiggins on March 27, 1992.

For the last 26 years, Brotherton had worked in the shipping department at McDonnell-Douglas. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the VFW Post in Cape Girardeau and attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church in St. Charles. He belonged to the I.A.M.-A.W.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Stephanie Marsala of O'Fallon and Kelly Brotherton of Imperial; two stepdaughters, Marsha Baber of Scott City and Christina Onave of Fort Stewart, Ga.; a stepson, Daniel Wiggins of Scott City; two brothers, Delmar of Cape Girardeau and Jerry Auterson of St. Charles; four sisters, Marie Miller of Fruitland, Helen Smith of Jackson, Leatha Jones of Clyde, Ohio, and Bessie Bryant of Weaverville, N.C.; a granddaughter; and eight step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. E.K. Purcell officiating. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery, with graveside rites by the Cape Girardeau VFW.
