FLORA, Ill. -- Decatur William Beatty Jr., 72, of Flora died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1998, at the Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind.
He was born Nov. 13, 1925, at Los Angeles, Calif., son of John Mason and Margaret Swartout Beatty.
Beatty was a retired electrician with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.
He was a veteran of World War II, a life member of the Greenup, Ill., VFW Post 4598, a member of VFW Post 3999 at Flora, and a member of the American Legion Post 14 at Flora.
Survivors include two sons, Link Beatty of Anna and Barton D. Beatty of Cisne; two daughters, Charlotte Beatty of Kansas City and Ashley Beatty of Cisne; a stepson, Mathew Hoffman of Rinard; a stepdaughter, Cindy Cook of Carbondale; a brother, Ross Swartout of Grants Pass, Ore.; two sisters, Laura Foster of Powers, Ore., and Ellen Rosas of Grants Pass; and close friend and companion Rose Marie Peterson of Flora.
Friends may call at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna after 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Dewayne Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery, with military honors at the grave by the Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna.
