Debra L. Smith, 53, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 19, 1959, in Salina, Kan., daughter of Charles W. and Joyce Ervin Dunn. She and Gary W. Smith were married March 20, 1982, near Burfordville.
Debra was a 1978 graduate of Jackson High School. She worked in the bookkeeping department at the former Jackson shoe factory, was a clerk at Nearly Perfect Shoes in Jackson and worked at the courtesy desk in Cape Girardeau Walmart six years, having been awarded Associate of the Month in November 2006. She enjoyed crocheting and camping.
Loving survivors include her husband of 30 years; a stepson, Michael Wayne Smith of Lakeland, Fla.; her mother, Joyce Dunn of Jackson; two brothers, Charles W. (Eva) Dunn and Matthew (Dani) Dunn of Marble Hill, Mo.; a sister, Diane (Keith) Glaus of Whitewater; a sister-in-law, Laura (Leroy) Friedhof of Oak Ridge; four nephews; and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father, a stepdaughter and a nephew.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Louis Frances officiating. Interment will be in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Saint Francis Medical Center Foundation.
