Debbie Lynn Rhodes-Hodge, 66, of Cape Girardeau passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 8, 2024, at her home.
She was born July 19, 1957, in Bonne Terre to Pete and Almaretta Rhodes
She is truly and deeply missed by most and for the ones who don’t ... Who asked?
Debbie enjoyed her life, her family and her friends. Topping the list of things she didn’t enjoy: Her daughter’s dogs. Unfortunately, she had a few granddogs pass over the years and even in death she can’t escape them. (Sorry, Mom!)
She would have wanted everyone to know she had a great day and night before her escape. She made time for herself that day by getting her hair and nails done and then, after seeing her family that day, she cracked open a cold one, turned on her shows and started on her home hobby. For those of you who knew her well, you will know what that was, and she bought some new items for her hobby that day.
There were only a handful of things she truly loved. She loved her family immensely, or in her words, “with every fiber of my being”. She loved her friends the same, as well as God, Miller Lite, Donald Trump and Florida! Rest assured, she’s with God, enjoying a Florida beach with her mom and Grandma Hanson, drinking a Miller Lite, still voting Trump and laying next to her granddogs. She was truly one of the most beautiful and compassionate people. She was loving, kind, funny and one hell of a woman.
Debbie wasn’t exactly ready to go. The curlers she just bought were sitting in the bathroom ready to go, her coffee was waiting to be brewed, and her clothes were set out for her day to start. Plus, she didn’t “Snap me” on Snapchat. She would have never let her 1,163-day streak end. She was loved, and she loved us all so much. She honored everyone, without judgment (OK, maybe a little).
Let us honor this amazing, selfless woman on this day. Let us not mourn, but celebrate who she was in every way.
Survivors include her father, Pete Rhodes; daughter, Hali Lynn (Rich) Hutter; brother, Eddie (Valorie) Rhodes; stepmother, Carol Rhodes; two stepsons, Ricky (Lisa) Hodge and Kevin Hodge; three best friends, Lori Clippard, Jean Montgomery and Deb Rhodes (the other Deb Rhodes); three grandchildren, Kalayah Lynn, Kastiel and Anjali; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and don’t forget the dogs.
Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Almaretta Hanson Rhodes.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 15, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. The scattering of her cremated remains will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, keep your hard earned money and please cast your vote for Donald J. Trump, 2024.
