STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Deane Elizabeth Woodson Edwards, 94, of Statesville died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at Maple Leaf Health Care.
She was born on July 11, 1904, at St. Louis, daughter of James Edward and Bessie Jane Wageley Woodson.
She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with honors in 1926. She taught math and science at Kennett High School as well as at Chaffee prior to her marriage.
She married Dalton Bryant Edwards on June 2, 1928. He died on Oct. 17, 1985.
She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the P.E.O. Sisterhood and Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Prior to moving to Statesville in 1977, she and her husband lived in Roanoke, Ala., where they were members of the First United Methodist Church.,
Survivors include a son, Theodore Louis Edwards of Statesville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandsons.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son and two sisters.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today at the Oakwood Cemetery. The Revs. Steve Scott and Grant M. Sharp will officiate.
Nicholson Funeral Home in Statesville handled the arrangements.
