JACKSON -- David R. Vinyard, 78, of Jackson died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at his home. He was born May 1, 1918, at Jackson, son of Charles and Mary Steimle Vinyard. He and Ann King were married Aug. 20, 1962, in Poplar Bluff. Vinyard owned and operated Vinyard Plumbing Service more than 20 years, retiring in 1996 due to ill health...

JACKSON -- David R. Vinyard, 78, of Jackson died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at his home.

He was born May 1, 1918, at Jackson, son of Charles and Mary Steimle Vinyard. He and Ann King were married Aug. 20, 1962, in Poplar Bluff.

Vinyard owned and operated Vinyard Plumbing Service more than 20 years, retiring in 1996 due to ill health.

He was a member of Shawnee Hills Baptist Church, served as a trustee, usher, and on various committees. He was also a member of American Legion Post 158, and Disabled American Veterans of Jackson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Pam Wheeler of Jackson; a stepson, Jim Morrison of Carrollton, Miss.; a brother, Sam Vinyard of Jackson; four sisters, Dorothy Dunn of Uniontown, Pa., Daisy Stockman and Elizabeth Looney of Jackson, Blanche Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Dean Heady and Thomas Bray officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
