MARSHFIELD, Mo. -- David Herman Umfleet, 67, of Marshfield passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013. He was born Nov. 18, 1945, in Cape Girardeau, son of Herman and Jewell Fowler Umfleet. David grew up in Advance, Mo., and graduated high school in 1963. He received a bachelor of science in education from Southwest Missouri State University and began his 25-year teaching career in industrial technology. MARSHFIELD, Mo. -- David Herman Umfleet, 67, of Marshfield passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013.

He was born Nov. 18, 1945, in Cape Girardeau, son of Herman and Jewell Fowler Umfleet.

David grew up in Advance, Mo., and graduated high school in 1963. He received a bachelor of science in education from Southwest Missouri State University and began his 25-year teaching career in industrial technology. He retired from the Marshfield School District in 1995.

He served in the U.S. Army from July 1964 to July 1967, and was a decorated Vietnam veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie; his mother, Jewell Umfleet of Marshfield; a sister, Sharon Wilson of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Jill Davis and husband Doug of Marshfield and Lindsy Scott and husband Mike of Nixa, Mo.; granddaughters; nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; and cousins.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service Saturday at Fraker Funeral Home in Marshfield.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Embree officiating.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Marshfield Senior Center to be used for the Meals on Wheels program, in care of the funeral home.
