David L. Turner, 68, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born March 20, 1933, at Wolf Lake, Ill., son of Herbert and Nellie Zimmerman Turner. He and Violet M. Fortner were married Feb. 24, 1954, in Carson City, Nev.

Turner retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was a member of American Legion Post 133 and VFW Post 4282.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Connie Masters of Arcadia, Mo., Cynthia Rinehart of Cape Girardeau; a brother; three sisters; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.

Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville, Mo., from 6-9 p.m. today, and Wednesday after 6:30 a.m.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Cripps officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Chester, Ill.
