David George Sander, 79, of Jackson, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, son of Rudolph and Laura Sperling Sander. He and Mildred M. Mayfield were married Nov. 29, 1944, in Gordonville. She died Sept. 8, 1999...

David George Sander, 79, of Jackson, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, son of Rudolph and Laura Sperling Sander. He and Mildred M. Mayfield were married Nov. 29, 1944, in Gordonville. She died Sept. 8, 1999.

Sander was the owner and operator of Sander's Watch & Clock Repair on Broadway in Cape Girardeau, and was a registered X-ray technician for 10 years.

Sander served in the Army during World War II. He was a former member of American Legion Post 63, VFW Post 3838 and a member of Cape First Church.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Paul Sander of Belleville, Ill., and Tom Sander of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Laura Kay Kesterson and Martha Beasley, both of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Martha Flynt of Metter, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Brothers officiating. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau, with military rites by the Missouri Honor Team.
