BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- David Wilfong, 69, of Bloomfield died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at his home. He was born July 29, 1930, at Puxico, son of Martin and Ester Harrington Wilfong. He moved to California in 1946, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for West Valley Construction Co. in Chico, Calif. He returned to Southeast Missouri in 1991. He lived at Ellsinore and recently moved to near Bloomfield. He was a member of the Puxico First Baptist Church...

BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- David Wilfong, 69, of Bloomfield died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at his home.

He was born July 29, 1930, at Puxico, son of Martin and Ester Harrington Wilfong.

He moved to California in 1946, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for West Valley Construction Co. in Chico, Calif. He returned to Southeast Missouri in 1991. He lived at Ellsinore and recently moved to near Bloomfield. He was a member of the Puxico First Baptist Church.

He and Beverly Piper were married on May 23, 1987, at Reno, Nev.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Danny L. Wilfong of Fresno, Calif., William Daniel of Santee, Calif., and James Daniel of Poway, Calif.; a daughter, Ester Jean McBride of Atwater, Calif.; three brothers, Claude Wilfong of Godfrey, Ill., Gary Wilfong of Puxico and Donald R. Wilfong of Hermiston, Ore.; three sisters, Reva Cantrell and Vivian Pate of Puxico, and Bertha Gates of Dexter; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Friends may call at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Puxico after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Revs. Kenneth Lambert and Melvin Keena officiating. Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Brown Cemetery near Puxico.
