David Edward Philipps, 84, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Oct.11, 2016, at his home.
He was born Oct. 23, 1931, in St. Louis, son of Elmo W. and Edna E. Kroeker Philipps. He and Barbara Raufer were married Feb. 14, 1960.
David attended St. Paul Lutheran School and was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1948.
After residing in St. Louis for five years, he and Barbara moved back to the Cape Girardeau/Jackson area and have been members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau since 1965.
He was a service technician with Data Card for over 35 years, retiring in 1987 due to ill health. He enjoyed hunting and being outdoors.
Loving survivors include his wife of 56 years, Barbara Philipps; twin sons, Timothy (Rebecca) Philipps of Glen Carbon, Illinois, and Thomas Philipps of Jackson; a daughter, Carol Noud of Glen Carbon; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Philipps of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Kelly) Philipps and Sam (fiancee Lauren Essner) Philipps, Carson and Delaney Philipps, Alex and Max Philipps and Blake and Loewy Noud; two brothers, Barrett Philipps of Arnold, Missouri, and William Philipps of Holly Springs, Mississippi; and two sisters, Joan Webb of Maryland and Judith Otto of Holly Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Joel Philipps.
The visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Southeast Hospice or Trinity Lutheran Church.
