CHAFFEE -- Funeral service for David Owens of Chaffee will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The Rev. Joe Payne will officiate, with burial in Union Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the chapel after 5 p.m. today.

Owens, 40, died Monday, Sept. 16, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Nov. 1, 1955, in Boles, Ill., son of Alonzo and Erma Lea Davault Owens. He and Wanda Faye McBride were married Sept. 10, 1975.

Owens had worked at Leming Lumber Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; a son, David Owens Jr. of Chaffee; a daughter, Crystal Owens of Oran; his mother of Olive Branch, Ill.; three brothers, Larry Owens of Mounds, Ill., Gary Owens of Diehlstadt, Donnie Owens of Olive Branch; six sisters, Barbara Bigham of Olive Branch, Sharon Horton of Rochester, N.H., Marilyn Bruce of Benton, Ill., Sheila Leoffler of Brockton, Mass., Virginia Wilburn of Herrin, Ill., Romona Parkinson of Ripon, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father and a grandson.
