He was a man who loved being in nature, fishing, dancing, playing drums and having a project to work on. He liked to work with his hands fixing and building things, and he was a skilled tuck pointer who enjoyed masonry.

David is survived by his siblings, Barbara (Chris) Ford, Karen Ward (Gary) Stroder and John Nickels; three children, Whitney Akhtar, Joshua Nickels and William Moore; and two grandchildren, Zain and Zara.

Services for David will be held privately.

Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory in Ballwin, Missouri, is in charge of arrangements.
