ST. LOUIS — David Calhoun Jones Jr., 81, of St. Louis passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017.
He was born May 29, 1935, in St. Louis to David Calhoun Sr. and Ruth Bulkley Jones.
Beloved father, brother, grandparent, uncle, cousin and son, he leaves behind his loving partner in life, Joy Wilburn.
After graduating Country Day School in St. Louis, David attended Kenyon College. After graduation, David worked successfully as a highly-regarded financial analyst for many years before starting his own company, Meramec Investment Advisors.
He was also a star baseball player and coach. His contributions to amateur baseball and his role in starting the Metro Collegians baseball league, led to his entrance into the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame.
Survivors include son, Edwin (Melinda) Jones Sr. of Jackson; grandson, Edwin Jones Jr. of O’Fallon, Missouri; grandson, Alexander Jones of Plano, Texas; granddaughter, Kelsey Jones of Plano; and grandson, Tyler Abner of Jackson.
Preceded in death by his parents; son, David Calhoun Jones III; sister, Peggy Will; and sister, Jean Chipman.
According to David’s wishes, his body was donated to Washington University Medical School.
Memorial services to be at 11 a.m. April 8 at The Church of St. Michael & St. George, 6345 Wydown Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105.
