RICHMOND, Mo. -- David Ira Owen, 69, passed away on Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at his home in Richmond. A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday morning, Oct. 5, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond. Burial with military honors was at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.

Dave was born April 24, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Kenneth K. and Mary Jean Kindell Owen. He married Glenda Pobst of Oran, Missouri, on March 14, 1970. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert "Bob" Owen of Rayville, Missouri, and Kenneth I. and Tara Owen of Kearney, Missouri; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Denise and Phillip Dirnberger of Oran, and Genni and Danny Forehand of Oran; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joe and Barbara Owen of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Ernie and Linda Owen of Clarinda, Iowa; one sister, Dr. Alma Jean Owen of Richmond; and eight grandchildren, Sam, Silas, Gabriel, Owen, Ava, Atlas, Jonah and Kindell.

Dave was a conservationist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Scott County, Cape Girardeau County and retiring in Ray County, Missouri, after 42 years of federal service. He was also a farmer.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7605. He received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Missouri.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was a helicopter pilot. He was a member of VFW Post 4398. He was a member of the American Legion Post 237. Dave was also a board member of the Missouri Farm Bureau. He had lived most of his life in the Oran and Richmond areas.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Ray County Veterans or to the Guardian Angel Catholic School.

Funeral arrangements were by the Thurman Funeral home of Richmond.
