David H. Blakeney Sr., 71, of Gulfport, Miss., died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1992, in Biloxi, Miss.
He was a native of Clarkton, and grew up in Cape Girardeau.
Blakeney had lived in Florida, where he was owner of Blakeney and Associates and Holiday Boat Co. of St. Petersburg. He retired as a safety engineer in Biloxi.
He was a member of Gulfport Elks Lodge, Joe Graham American Legion Post, Voiture DAV Chapter, and VFW. He was past state adjutant in the legion. He was a veteran of World War II, and served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie; a daughter, Mia Tolliver of Germany; three sons, David Jr. and Mitchell Blakeney of Gulfport, Rick Blakeney of Jackson, Miss.; two sisters, Marabelle Sams of Gulfport, Bettie Gunn of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Max Mitchell of Lanett, Ala., Diamond Blakeney of Long Beach, Miss., and three grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
