TAMMS, Ill. -- David L. Farris, 79, of Tamms died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Jonesboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Jonesboro, Ill.

He was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Marion, Ill., son of Lawrence and Hazel Hughes Farris. He married Lellia Dailey.

Farris had worked at Bunny Bread in Anna, and was a crane operator 25 years with Wilson Construction Co. in Crawfordsville, Ind. He was a lifetime member of Chester VFW Post 3553 in Chester, Ill., and Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Tamms.

He was formerly of Jonesboro and Chester. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three stepdaughters, Sharon Redcloud of Ullin, Myrna Wallace of Tamms, Lellia Schultz of Dongola, Ill.; two stepsons, Randy and John Dailey of Tamms; a brother, Bill Farris of Anna; a sister, Phyllis Bosher of Jonesboro, Ill.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Monday at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms.

The funeral will be at noon Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clint Nale officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery at Rockwood, Ill., with full military honors provided by members of VFW Post 3553.
