MOUND CITY, Ill. -- David Scott Clanahan, 45, of Mound City passed away at 5:01 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at the Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.
David was born Feb. 12, 1970, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Harvey L. Clanahan and Elaine Hurley Clanahan.
David was a member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mound City, was a member of the Painters Union and was a charter member of the Sons of American Legion Post 178 of Villa Ridge, Illinois. He was a painter.
Survivors include his mother, Elaine Clanahan of Mound City; a son, Justin Meeks of Mound City; two brothers, Steve (Joyce) Clanahan of South Fulton, Tennessee, and Dr. Todd Clanahan of Pekin, Illinois; a sister, Ann Roegge of Springfield, Illinois; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
David was preceded in death by his father, Harvey L. Clanahan, on Dec. 28, 2013.
Friends may call between 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home Villa Ridge, where a ritual service of the Sons of American Legion will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by members of Post 178. Visitation will continue from 8:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cairo, Illinois.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Officiating will be Monsignor Bill McGhee. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Mounds, Illinois.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to the Sons of American Legion Post 178 of Villa Ridge or to the St. Mary's Cemetery at Mounds in memory of David Clanahan.
