David Joseph Beussink, 80, of Jackson passed away Monday, July 24, 2023, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 1, 1942, in Leopold, Missouri, to Anthony and Mary Arnzen Beussink. He and Judy F. Elfrink were married Aug. 17, 1963, in Portageville, Missouri.
David was employed as a carpenter for many years with Seabaugh Construction in Jackson. He honorably served in the Missouri National Guard from Feb. 4, 1966, to May 1, 1972.
David cherished his grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. His other interests included hunting, fishing, farming, vegetable gardening and woodworking. He had an eye for classic cars and was passionate about restoring them.
David was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson and was a fourth-degree knight of the Bishop Timon Knights of Columbus Council No. 6405 in Jackson. He was also a former member of the Capaha Antique Car Club of Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Judy Beussink of Jackson; daughter, Dorcas (Kristopher) Bonnegent and their son, Lucas, of Jackson; son, David (Amy) Beussink Jr. and their children, Hadley and Avery, of Jackson; siblings, Linda (the late James "Bud") Brown and Patsy Beussink; and sisters-in-law, Pat (the late Frank) Beussink and Betty (the late Fred) Beussink.
David was preceded in death by parents, Anthony and Mary Beussink; and siblings, William "Bill" (Roxie) Beussink, Phillip (Angela) Beussink, Charles (Bernice) Beussink, Harold (Helen) Beussink, Adele (Theodore) Brands, Catherine (Herman) Brands and Fred, Frank and Joseph Beussink.
Visitation will be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 27, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. A rosary, led by the Knights of Columbus, will be at 6:45 p.m. that evening, followed by military honors.
The Rev. Randolph Tochtrop will celebrate a memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or for memorial Masses.
