Darrell Alcorn

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Darrell Ellis Alcorn, 84, of Sikeston died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at his home.

He was born June 13, 1917, in Greenway, Ark., son of Ellis and Wrista Alcorn. He and Juanita Branum were married Sept. 12, 1935.

Alcorn farmed many years. He owned Alcorn Real Estate and Insurance Co., and was area management broker for HUD Housing 23 years. He was named Sikeston's Man of the Year in 1968.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sikeston Masonic Lodge 310 AF&AM, Moolah Temple of St. Louis, SEMO Shrine Horse Patrol, Sikeston Eagles Aerie 3319, Order of Eastern Star 13, and Elks Lodge 2319. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and past president of SEMO Shrine Club.

Survivors include his wife; a son, William "Bill" Alcorn of Ocala, Fla.; two daughters, Bonnie Zugschwendt of Hernando, Fla., Nancy Wymer of Sikeston; two brothers, Delmar Alcorn of Sikeston, C.D. Alcorn of Morley, Mo.; two sisters, Ruth Chaney and Blanche McDonald of Sikeston; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, a brother, a sister, and a granddaughter.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic rites will be at 7:30.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. William F. "Bill" Koch officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
