Dareld L. Davis, 79, of Jackson, formerly of Anna, Illinois, died at 6:37 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017, in Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 26, 1937, in Anna, the son of Curtis and Beatrice Davis Wright. He married Geraldine Nash on Aug. 30, 1958, in Anna.
Dareld is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine Davis of Jackson; son, Brad (Leslie) Davis of Jackson; daughter, Nora (Greg) Duffy of Hayti, Missouri; five grandchildren, Samantha Rawls, Shannon Davis, Heather Mitchell, Katelyn Duffy and Caleb Duffy; six great-grandchildren; fur baby, Morley; nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents who helped raise him, I.G. and Iva Davis; and a brother, Robert "Bob" Wright.
Dareld was a 1954 graduate of Anna-Jonesboro Community High School, and in 1960 he graduated from the University of Michigan with his forestry degree. He served two years in the U.S. Army.
Dareld had a dedicated career for 33 years working for the U.S. Forestry Service. He retired in January 1993. He worked at various locations throughout the United States, finishing his career at the Vienna (Illinois) Ranger Station. After his retirement, he managed the Cape Girardeau County Transit Authority and the Jackson Senior Center. He assisted with the computer system and registration.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the service hour at 1 p.m. Friday at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
The funeral service for Dareld L. Davis will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Pastors David Israel and Jimmie Corbin officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson or the Jackson Senior Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
