Danny Lee Conklin, 68, of Jackson passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 11, 1950, in Sigourney, Iowa, son of Paul and Kathleen Heisdorffer Conklin. He and Lois Kefauver were married Jan. 9, 1971.
Danny was a graduate of Jackson Senior High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. He worked in wholesale grocery sales. His favorite pastimes were woodworking, horseback riding and bird hunting. His true enjoyment came from watching his granddaughters play softball.
Loving survivors include his wife of 48 years, Lois Conklin; two children, Tonya Rae (Brad Schlosser) Friga and Todd (Whitney) Conklin, all of Cape Girardeau; six granddaughters, Brook Elaine Welker, Payton Danielle Friga, Gracie Marie Friga, Morgan Elaine Conklin, Meredith Rae Conklin and Miley Claire Conklin; and great-grandson, Bode Glenn Johnson.
Also surviving are five siblings, Terry (DeAnna) Conklin of Jackson, Steve Conklin of Oak Ridge, Paula (DeWayne) Lorenz of Sikeston, Missouri, and Sharon (Scott) Beussink and Saundra Guth, both of Cape Girardeau. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Renee Conklin; and brothers-in-law, Wayne and Bruce Kefauver.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Daniel Maske officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Humane Society of Southeast Missouri or Hanover Lutheran Church.
